On 20th June 2012 Jim Rowan's daughter Claire wrote to
say that Jim had passed away after a short illness. Jim and his late wife
May were stalwarts of the RHS Club in London for many years and Jim attended his
63rd annual dinner at the RAF Club in March. Jim was in the Merchant Navy
during the war, followed by a career in the Metropolitan police force.
Jim's familiar figure will be sadly missed at RHS London Club events and his
annual dinner record is unlikely to be broken. The
funeral will be
held on Monday 2nd July at 12.30pm at Trinity URC, Freelands Road, Bromley, Kent
BR1 3AQ. There will be a reception held at the church following the
service and all are very welcome to attend. Jim's family has requested no flowers but donations can be sent in Jim's memory to St
Christopher's Hospice, 51-59 Lawrie Park Avenue, London SE25
6DZ.
